Want to become a Lifeguard? 

Currently, the Spruce Aquatic Centre does not offer classes to become a lifeguard. However, if you have completed your Bronze Cross, and have taken our Assistant Program then you can apply to be an LIT (Lifeguard in training).

Spruce Lodge Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Training Program

We currently run the Lifesaving Society Swim Training Program through the Spruce Aquatic Centre with two levels: Swim Assistant and Swim Instructor.  Classes run every session.

Swim Assistant

This program is for persons with Bronze Cross or higher and are 14 years of age or older. This course requires practical teaching, assignments, and weekly attendance for 10 weeks. Classes running daily every session.

$100 plus tax

Swim Instructor

This program is for those who are 16 by the end of the course with a Bronze Cross or higher certification.This course requires practical teaching, assignments, and weekly attendance for 10 weeks. This program enables you to teach swimming lessons to persons of all ages and abilities. Classes run daily every session. 

$200 plus tax
